Our Daily Bread

Hello friend,

Do you ever find yourself worrying about tomorrow, or the next day, or the next month? How you’re going to provide for your family, pay for that vacation, pay for that car, pay for that medical bill?

Jesus gives us the perfect example of how to avoid worrying about tomorrow and embracing the Father about today.

In Matthew 6:11 he shows us how to ask the Father for today’s bread: “Give us this day our daily bread…” Give us today’s provisions.

In this example we see a few key things:

  • God cares about our everyday needs.

  • We should pray about our everyday needs.

  • We should focus on our needs one day at a time.

Jesus is reminding us to ask Him about today because “tomorrow will worry about itself” (Matthew 6:34).

At JPM, it is easy for us to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of families all over the world who need food and who heavily rely on us to supply it. For example, many of you saw that we were with Blackfeet Nation in Heart Butte, Montana last week. Several Blackfeet families shared with us that their food stamps did not adequately cover their needs this past spring. Two Kenyan communities reached out seeking additional help as the unprecedented drought is wiping out their food supply. Our friends in Mexico and Honduras are also struggling financially in this economy and culture.

The worry and hopelessness sets in so easily… and yet, we won’t be deterred. Each morning we choose to lean into God’s promises. We receive His word that, “you can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus…” (Philippians 4:19 MSG). And we don’t sit and wait for God to do all the work. We obediently partner with Him, regularly exploring new ways to source funding and food supply.

We will share more specifics of our recent Blackfeet Trip in our next email, but wanted to reach out with this message that was on our hearts. We believe most of us can relate to this struggle of wanting to control the future and trust in ourselves rather than lean on the Father each and every day. His ways are always better and wiser and sometimes we need that reminder.

Finally, this June 2023 was our 6 year mark as an official INC non profit organization. We are excited to celebrate another year of partnership and serving alongside each and every one of you!

Please continue to pray for Joey’s grandson Titus. He’s been pretty sick recently, but he is slowly recovering each day.

Please continue to message us your thoughts, prayers and feedback as we love to connect with you in any way!

Many prayers and blessings,

Joey & Cathy
