Our Journey
Our Story
Joey has partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes since attending his first FCA Summer Camp in 1974. He later served as the FCA Director of Missions for 11 years.
In 1977, while attending Milligan College in Tennessee, Joey and Cathy met while participating in international missions and ministry activities in East Tennessee.
Joey and Cathy married in 1979, beginning a joint life of missions that continues to this day.
For over 30 years following their marriage, Joey has served as a youth and college-aged pastor. He ministered to middle-school, high-school, and college-aged students in five different churches across Georgia, Tennessee, Washington, Maryland, and Florida.
In 2018, Joey and Cathy founded Joey Potter Missions, Inc., their own 501(c)(3) mission-based nonprofit organization.
Throughout the past 30 years, Joey has led numerous mission projects for a variety of organizations, churches, youth pastors, coaches, teams, and athletes. At his core, Joey remains a missionary for the cause of Christ.

"My whole life, my parents have taught me what it means to serve Jesus on the mission field. THIS is what we do.
For me, it's every summer trip. For them, it's their ministry and life calling. For the kids, it's an eternity with Jesus.
If you've been on a mission with our family, please share this ministry so that others can see the joy of Christ we are sharing with the world. It's no street corner ministry; it's doing LIFE with these kids, the employees of the restaurant, the people of the church, the teachers in the schools. And we go back. EVERY. YEAR. Multiple times a year. We keep showing up and serving because Jesus didn't just show up ONCE in our lives. He shows up AGAIN and AGAIN.β
