be ready

Hello friends,

If you follow us on Facebook, then you know we were serving the children and families of Navajo Nation in Blackfeet, Montana last week.

We had a week of camp planned for the kids, but as we’ve experienced before, our plans were rerouted when we realized the people here had sores all over their skin.

They had gone several weeks without bathing due to “dirty water” running through their area causing skin sores.

The wonderful church that hosts our JPM Camps allowed us to use their facilities to shower our friends and medicate their sores.

“When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality” (Romans 12:13, NLT).

Take a moment to imagine what a shower would mean to you after going weeks without? Something we do every morning or night without even thinking about it. No concern that the water coming out is potentially toxic. What a different life we lead. What an opportunity to be grateful.

After spending multiple days tending to and praying over people’s sores, we were able to begin camp activities! We shared the gospel of Jesus. We engaged the kids through crafts, singing, Navajo traditions and of course FOOD! Never underestimate the power of a shared meal.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42, ESV).

A special thank you to Gary & Pam Harne, Tom Lohr, his son Will & granddaughter Daveney and Robin Bowman. This team sacrificed to love and care for the Navajo children and families in such a powerful way. Jesus was magnified and glorified.

Amongst camp activities, we were also able to help provide some of the Navajo families with book bags and school supplies as they head back to school.

We also partnered with Dig Deep to help our friends Patrick and Candie get running water in their home!

We first shared about Joey’s medical updates a few weeks ago, and now that surgery is imminent, we want to share again and ask that you pray for him often over the next week.

Joey will have Mohs surgery on his leg and face in the next few days to remove the skin cancer they found. He will have heart surgery next week, Friday the 25th, to have two stents put into his heart.

Prayers and communication have been very encouraging to Joey and the family - especially knowing what to expect from others who have walked this road before.

Please feel welcome to reach out to Joey and the Potter family with your prayers as they go into this next week. Once the surgeries are complete, a time of healing will be necessary and good. Healing is painful and difficult - especially for a man who does not like to sit still!

Thank you in advance for your continued prayers!

Joey & Cathy

Emma shared this verse recently and we wholly embrace and echo her encouragement to not worry about ANYTHING. Period. “Tell God what you need and then thank Him for all He has done.” God is inviting us to step outside of ourselves and into His much better way. His fruitful and effective way.

If you aren’t familiar with Emma or our journey with her, then you can read about that here. Emma is currently applying to schools in the U.S. and applying for a Student Visa.

JPM has a call from God to directly partner with Emma financially and prayerfully. We have received vision from God for her life and how we are to partner with her at this time. We ask you to pray about being a part of this as well. Click here to support Emma financially.
