Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Join with me friend,

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace"

Our days are just better when we start them off PRAISING God. It gets our attention off of ourselves and onto Jesus.

It is so easy (especially now in 2023) to get bogged down by the heaviness that surrounds us. I know I don't need to give examples - we get inundated with them enough as it is.

It is only when we fix our eyes upon Jesus (Hebrews 12:2and place our hope in Him(Isaiah 40:31that He will renew our strength and set us soaring.

“but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:31, NIV

Joey’s theme for JPM has always been “Running to the Storm”. I often wonder how Joey withstands the brutal conditions of travel and missions. Constantly running to various storms. You would think he would be weak, tired and weary.

But just this week Joey said, “I’m passionate about us (JPM) continuing on.”

Look at what scripture says in Isaiah 40:31, when we hope in the Lord, we are able to RUN and not grow weary! It is no wonder why Joey is still passionate about running to the storm at age 66. His hope is in the LORD! God renews his strength each day that he leans on Him.

God wants to do the same for each of us! It is His will that we continue to run this race with endurance (Hebrews 12:1).

One of the best ways to hope in the Lord is through prayer and praise. We have put together a Monthly Prayer Guide to encourage you to pray daily for yourself, your spouse, your kids, family, friends, mission, etc. We hope this helps you pray more specifically and diligently.

Joey and the mission team are in Tecate, Mexico this week! It is brutally cold where they are, so please pray for comfort, provision and a continued steadfast spirit among them.

More updates to come of this Tecate trip in the coming weeks!

Joey has asked that we pray specifically about a vehicle for JPM. We are looking for a 2016-2020 SUV. Thank you for partnering with us in prayer.

As we continue to cultivate this culture of prayer at JPM, we invite you to share with us any prayer requests that are pressing on your heart. We've received responses already from JPM friends sharing the conviction God has placed on their heart to ask and expect more from God! James 4:2 says, "...you have not because you ask not."

While I (Sydney) am the one to send these emails, Joey is the only one who receives any responses, so please know that your prayer requests are held in confidence.

So much more to come as we pursue our spring mission schedule!

We love you and are so grateful to share in this partnership with you. Be blessed!

Joey & Cathy
