Fall & Thorns

Hello Friends,

Today's newsletter shares some personal updates on Joey Potter himself as well as JPM's plans for March! Thank you for keeping up with us and all God is doing through JPM!

You may or may not know this, but Joey suffered from a fairly brutal fall a couple of weeks ago while he was in Honduras.

He recalls, β€œI had 15 thorns in me. A cracked nose which I may or may not get fixed. I still need to get my teeth checked and get a physical. I did three somersaults and two of them I was on my face.”

His daughter, Hannah Beth, believes he was pushed by the devil and we agree that the enemy wants to see JPM crumble. He hates the work we are doing to protect the innocent children of Honduras from being trafficked, used and abused.

Joey continues, β€œI want to be real with people about what is happening as this will affect future missions and I need their prayers.” We covet your prayers as Joey is scheduling minor surgery to have a hernia repaired that was aggravated by his fall.

He will be limited on lifting things, but Joey has not lost his fervor for missions. You wouldn’t know he had just suffered a fall as he boarded a flight to Mexico this past Monday morning!

This week, JPM is going back to visit our beloved friends in Tecate, Mexico! You might notice we try to go there every other month as we have built such a large ministry in this area and want to continue to build it up and see it grow.

This week we will assist in the continued development of the two church plants we’ve helped establish here. We are excited to bless the worship band at one of the churches with a donated Martin guitar. We will follow up with the baby boy from the Mennonite orphanage. You may remember his story from the end of January.

We continue to pray for his safety from his drug addicted parents and that he can be permanently in place with a safe and loving family who can properly care for him. Finally, we will feed the children of this orphanage as well!

JPM continues to seek and pray for our next SUV/TRUCK. This will bring a great blessing to the work & feeding of the children in Tecate, Mexico. We are supremely grateful that NINE vehicles have been donated over the past 2 years. This has made huge impacts on the ministry and our ability to distribute food regularly to the communities of Tecate and the Navajo Reservation.

We are still gathering new shoes (casual/day shoes) for the men and women in Dawson City/Mayfield, Kentucky who lost everything in a tornado this past December. Sadly, the people in this area have essentially been forgotten and are suffering daily.

We are thankful to have found a partner who is possibly prepared to make a large shoe donation to this project! We will be delivering new shoes and new jeans to this group in early April.

Please email JPM if you are wanting to donate new shoes or have a contact with a person/organization who can facilitate such.

On another personal note, Joey has shared that he has been on a β€œ1 Year Fast”. He is praying faithfully and living healthy to change and grow in heart, mind, soul and β€œ65 year ole body” (haha)! Please join him in praying that God sustains him physically so he can continue to do missions as long as he is on this earth!

If you want to know more about how you can partner with JPM:

  • PRAYER (this is always first and most important!)

  • SHARE (please share our facebook posts, instagram posts, website posts, etc.)

  • DONATE (if you prayerfully feel led to donate your time, money, vehicle, etc., please do so here or email JPM for more information!)

Cathy & I appreciate you dearly and truly desire to know how we may pray for you!

Much love & much blessings,

Joey & Cathy
